Arup held a meeting with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General for Ankara Cycle Strategy and Masterplan Intervention

Within the scope of the Global Future Cities Programme Turkey, led by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) where Arup is the Delivery Partner, a meeting was held with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (AMM) Secretary General R. Serhat Taşkınsu on 17 August 2021 and the Ankara Cycle Strategy and Masterplan Intervention was presented. AMM General Secretariat, AMM Projects Coordinatorship, AMM Transport Department and AMM EGO General Directorate, FCDO and Arup Team were participated to the meeting. Arup Team first introduced the Global Future Cities Programme, then gave a brief information about the ongoing work for the Ankara Cycle Strategy and Masterplan Intervention, and forthcoming promotional activities planned for the project.

The Ankara Cycle Strategy and Masterplan Project aims to promote cycling as a sustainable and innovative mode of transport and create a cycle network in the city. The Project, in which the Ankara Cycle Masterplan was prepared in line with the cycling vision developed for Ankara, will promote the use of bicycles for daily trips, introduce it as an equal mode of transport for everyone and integrate it into the multimodal transportation system of Ankara.

The meeting was productive for both parts. Arup and AMM Teams discussed the project outputs and brainstormed about the communication activities to enable behavioural change towards cycling.
