Invitation to Knowledge Sharing Session

UN-Habitat is inviting you to attend the first Global Future Cities Programme (GFCP) Urban October Knowledge Sharing event. Urban October is a month of exciting meetings, discussions and events focusing the world’s urban issues and sustainable development. This year’s theme will focus on the climate crisis which is also the theme of UN-Habitat’s campaign ClimateAction4Cities.

This event is aligned with World Habitat Day’s theme, Accelerating urban action for a carbon-free world, and is an opportunity for UN-Habitat. UN-Habitat, FCDO, delivery partners, cities and outside subject matter experts will come together to discuss GFCP projects that aim for carbon neutrality on various scales and share challenges and opportunities of implementation.

UN-Habitat will facilitate the session which will feature 3 presentations from GFCP partners followed by a roundtable discussion including subject matter experts. We hope to see you there for what promises to be an interesting and critical conversation ahead of the upcoming COP-26, scheduled to take place in November in Glasgow, UK.

Presentations include:

  1. Low Carbon Region Planning in Iskandar Malaysia, Malaysia - Kamisah Mohd Ghazali, Senior Vice President, Resilient Environment, Iskandar Regional Development Authority
  2. The role of Smart Ticketing in the Decarbonisation of Transport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - Andrew Pickford, Executive Director, Ernst & Young Transactions, Hong Kong
  3. Evidence-based Planning in Sustainable Waterways Transport in Lagos, Nigeria - Kayode Khalidson, Team Leader & Adeolu Ojo, Environmental & Climate Change Expert, Future Cities Nigeria

We look forward to your participation in this exciting event!
